Think about what's been happening recently on the Lower East Side: There’s music once again resonating from the restored, historic East River Park Amphitheater, … The Rebuild Chinatown Initiative just unveiled its “America’s Chinatown” plan detailing development of affordable housing and exciting business initiatives … Looming above us all is the swanky new Surface Hotel on Rivington – have you seen those glass panels? Whoa, talk about precarious balance. And then, just a bit to the north, Loisaida Inc. – 25 years strong this year – has renewed its pledge to ensure that Lower East Side kids thrive in the midst of gentrification. And we can’t forget to mention the hottest girls in town – the Lower East Side Girls Club girls. They are busy raising funds to build a new center that will house amazing services (from health care to after school programs) to hundreds girls age 8 to 18 and their families on the Lower East Side.
The Lower East Side is stretching, it’s building, it’s striving for balance. It’s doing yoga. What better place for you to do yours?
